Add an Activity

Now on every Marketing Tools page, there is a link in the upper right corner to Add an Activity.  Instead of taking you away from the current page to the regular Add an Activity page, your current page goes dim and a new Add an Activity window pops up.  You can input your information, close the window and go right back to where you were.

Public Side Left Nav

We reorganized the left nav on the public side to make it easier for visitors to find more relevant information faster.  We put the FAQ at the top of the list, and added a Features and Benefits section that summarizes the key messages about MYLP.

As you do the foundational work in Start Here, and work on the planning tools in each of the modules, your personalized Marketing Plan is created automatically.  Print this report out to use for planning meetings and annual reviews.

New SWOT Analysis Tools

Two new tools have been added to Lesson 5 in Start Here: a Marketing Plan SWOT Analysis and a Specific Objective SWOT Analysis.  These tools will help you analyze the strengths, weaknesses, objectives and threats of your marketing plan as a whole, or of a specific initiative.

Send documents to My Virtual Marketing Coach for Review

Now you can ask your Virtual Marketing Coach to review any of the documents you have uploaded into the My Personal Folders section of My Marketing Folder.  Use this feature when your documents are in their final form, ready to send to clients.  The kinds of documents that are appropriate for review are things like key messages, your biography, examples of representative experience elevator speeches or proposals.  Your Marketing Coach will review your document and send comments back to you.  You’ll be able to see the comments in an email, as well as access them from within My Marketing Folder.

My Personal Folders added to My Marketing Folder

This is where the new version of My Marketing Folder gets really amazing!  You can upload documents from your computer to be stored in My Marketing Folder.  You can add and rename subfolders in My Personal Folders, allowing you to organize your documents as you see fit.  You can delete files or subfolders.  You can also send a document to Your Virtual Marketing Coach for review.

My Marketing Folder reorganizzed

My Marketing Folder has been completely reorganized to make it easier than ever for you to keep track of the work you are doing on the site.  All of My Marketing Tools are organized in subfolders by portal, with the completed items in gray, while those tools that you still need to complete are listed in teal.   The Marketing Reports subfolder contains My Marketing Report Card, My Essay Question Summary and My Marketing Successes.  Plus, you can upload your own documents into My Personal Folders, and send documents to Your Virtual Marketing Coach for review.

My Marketing Successes report added

The Marketing Reports subfolder in My Marketing Folder contains a new report called My Marketing Successes.  Use this report to keep track of your wins during the year, and it will be ready to go when it's time for your annual review.  The first section of the report allows you to summarize data about the new client relationships you've developed.  The second section captures your other marketing successes.

New Content Added to Trade and Professional Associations Module

The Trade and Professional Associations Module has been completely overhauled to include vital new information and resources on maximizing your involvement in bar associations.  The Assessment tool has new questions to help you evaluate your current situation.  There is a new Bar Association Involvement Planning Tool.  The Implementation Resources now includes links to national, state and local bar associations, and a new tipsheet on making the most of your bar association memberships.

New Content Added to Community Involvement Module

Several new resources have been added to the Community Involvement Implementation Resources.  The Value of Volunteering lists the reasons why you should volunteer your time and expertise, and highlights the valuable career skills that will be enhanced as a result.  The Board Position Evaluation Tool helps you decide if you should accept an invitation to join the board of a non-profit.  We've also included many new links to help you find the volunteer and pro bono opportunities that are the right fit for you.

New Content Added to Marketing Database Implementation Resources 

Some smaller law firms need a simple database to keep track of client and referral source information.  Two new Excel database templates have been added, along with a list of tips to keep in mind as you work with databases in Excel.

New Content Added to Developing a Marketing Budget 

Two new tipsheets have been added to help you plan your marketing budget.  The first one lists typical line items for a marketing budget, broken down into firm-wide, practice group, and individual lawyer categories.  The second one lists line items to use as you keep track of how you spend your marketing time.

Improved Content in My Marketing Tools

Over the last few weeks, we've been streamlining the content in My Marketing Tools to make it easier for you to find exactly what you're looking for.  The planning tools for each module have a new landing page, summarizing all the tools and resources you'll need to efficiently and effectively create your marketing plans.  And the implementation resources have been reorganizzed as well.

Now you can dialogue with your fellow members about marketing your law practice.  What works for you?  What questions do you have that your peers can answer?  What is your favorite best practice when it comes to marketing?  What area of marketing could you use some new ideas in?  Check out the Discussion Board to get answers to all these questions and more.  If you’ve never used a discussion board before, check out our handy list of tips and instructions. 

My Marketing Report Card 

Now each assessment and measurement tool contains quantifiable questions, making it easier to quantify your marketing results.  After you take an assessment, your score will automatically be added to My Marketing Report Card in My Marketing Folder.  Our system automatically organizes your assessment scores under the specific modules you are working in.  After you have actively been implementing a particular module (networking, client surveys, advertising, etc.), take the measurement tool, and then compare your score assessment and measurement scores to see how you have improved.

My Essay Question Summary 

Many of the assessments contain essay questions, allowing you to collect information about your practice.  You will use some of that information in various places on the site as you plan and implement your marketing strategies.  When you need to recall a specific piece of information – for example, your top referral sources – use My Essay Question Summary in My Marketing Folder to help you find it quickly and easily.  Just click on an assessment title to see the essay questions and answers from that assessment.

Create a Profile 

My Marketing Community is underway!!  You can now create your own public profile, a professional biography that includes your firmname, contact information, education, experience, recognitions, honors, activities and more.  When you save and publish your profile, you’ll be added to the Community Profiles on MarketYourLawPractice.com .

Automatic Outlook Scheduler 

Now scheduling your time to work on MarketYourLawPractice.com is even easier!  A new addition to the Master Activity Report is the Schedule to Outlook option.  After you have created an activity, use the Schedule to Outlook option to block out time on your Outlook calendar to accomplish the activity.  You can also find the Outlook Scheduler in the top navigation bar anywhere on the site.
